The Pijp Highlights: Poptasi

Every wednesday, Anne will share the finest hotspots in Amsterdam’s most upcoming area: de Pijp. The best neighbourhood to choose from a wide selection of ethnic food as well as more high-end bars and restaurants. She will help you discover your new favorites out of all the hidden treasures that de Pijp has to offer.

Poptasi

Poptasi is a shop that sells nothing but macarons and it is the first in the Netherlands that does. Located at the Gerard Doustraat, you can find a little bit of Paris in Amsterdam. You can treat yourself with a delicious macaron six days a week, from 10:00 – 17:00. And once you’ve tasted them, the temptation to pop in for one of these feather-lite, pastel-coloured fancies again is way too hard to resist.

Dangerously delicious

The owners call their macarons dangerously delicious and these lovely round sweets definitely are. Macarons are small sweet bites made of meringue and cream, with usual flavours like strawberry and pistachio. But in this macaron heaven the flavors seem never ending. Besides the ones you’re used to, they have interesting flavours like Lychee, Stroopwafel (a typical dutch cookie) and Coconut.

What’s good? To be honest: what’s not?
Added bonus: They offer workshops so you can learn how to make them yourself!
